"Dragon Ball Super" episode 16's review explains why Whis is teaching Vegeta, while episode 17 preview trailer presents spoilers of Pan being born. In the upcoming episode, Goku has been seen flying off somewhere.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, "Dragon Ball Super" episode 16 was interesting because fans would gain an understanding why Whis accepted Vegeta as his pupil. It is noted that the latest episode didn't progress based on the plot, instead it bridges "a gap that was not seen in the animated movies." Fans who have been following the franchise, especially from Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, they know the gap that wasn't shown.

Looking back in "Dragon Ball" Resurrection F, Everyone has seen Goku together with Vegeta has already been training with Whis. It was never explained why Whis agreed to train them both.

However, the 16th episode of "Dragon Ball Super" explains why Whis decided to train Goku and Vegeta. Yes! As audience has seen it, it all started with Bulma feeding Whis, she offered him with so many yummy food. This was her way of bribing him, "so that Whis would protect her and Trunks if Beerus or anybody else would decide to destroy the Earth."

Vegeta also bribed Whis with food. This is the part in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 16 that's amusing because Vegeta was trying hard to find a way to impress Whis with food. The comedic side of Vegeta was a breath of fresh air. No one could imagine him so useless in cracking eggs. Then, finally he was able to convince Whis with the ramen.

As for the upcoming episode of "Dragon Ball Super," Yibada says that the preview trailer of episode 17 reveals that Pan has been born already. He is seen giggling in the video clip.

The trailer of "Dragon Ball Super" episode 17 reveals spoilers of Goku talking to someone over the phone. After the conversation, he was seen flying off somewhere. " Before the preview trailer ends, we see Goku with Whis. It looks like he wants to get trained too."
