"Suicide Squad" director David Ayer vows that his film is different from any comic book movie adaptation. Ayer says that its theme makes this movie better than the others.
Comic Book Resources reports that director David Ayer has been interviewed by Empire magazine, and in the interview, Ayer explained why his movie adaptation is different from the others.
CBR quotes Ayer stating his explanation. ""You know, all these movies are about defeating the evil alien robot from f*cking Planet X, before it destroys the world with its ticking clock. And who the f*ck cares? But you do this story about struggle and isolation and people who have been shit on that suddenly get thrown this lifeline... that's not so bad... I like to think of this as the Comic Book Movie 2.0," the "Suicide Squad" director explained.
Cinema Blend also has another meaty report of the interview of David Ayer. The movie "Suicide Squad" is the epic cover story of Empire magazine, thus explains the interview of the director.
It is noted that the director of the DC comics' "Suicide Squad" holds nothing back. He is definitely blunt about his opinion when he shared what he thought of the other comic book movie adaptations. Cinema Blend agrees that "nearly all recent comic book films could be described that way."
Comic Book says that it is a surprise that "Suicide Squad" gets a movie adaptation. In fact, Charles Roven, the executive producer of the film, is also astonished when he first learned about the plan. He recalled that in the midst of filming "Batman v Superman," they were trying to resolve the idea of expanding their path as far as DC Justice League universe is concerned. "Then David Ayer came and pitched his take on Suicide Squad. It had this darkness and edge, while still tonally in the zone of what we're trying to do with these movies. And it's impossible that you could get a big tentpole picture from pitch to start of principal photography and faster than we did," he further explained.
David Ayer simply believed that "what he had was special and different than what the current landscape of superhero films. He knew that there was another formula he could put into play and hopefully be successful." So now, the ball starts rolling for "Suicide Squad" movie.
