Actress Drew Barrymore and husband William Kopelman sold their Montecito estate for $6.35 million. The estate, which was also their wedding site, sold Wednesday for a price way below the asking price.
The property was listed for sale five months ago for an asking price of $7.5million. Though Barrymore received more than a million dollars below the asking price, she was still able to make a good profit because she bought the two-acre home in 2010 for $5.7 million. The six-thousand-square-feet traditional home has six bedrooms, seven and a half baths and an additional one bedroom guesthouse.
The listing's description of the home reads as such:
Gorgeous 1937 traditional home on approx. 2 acres of secluded, lush grounds. Located between the Upper and Lower Villages and in the Montecito Union School District, this classic two story estate features 6 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, separate guest apt and ample parking. A walking path winds through the abundant gardens, citrus and avocado trees and expansive lawn to create a one of a kind setting.
According to a Forbes.com report, the couple wanted to move the property quickly so that they could focus on purchasing a four-bedroom duplex on Manhattan's Park Avenue. The 4-bedroom apartment is at 830 Park Avenue and has reportedly undergone a renovation to showcase unusually large windows and a loft-like design. There's central air conditioning, parquet floors, laundry room, spa bath in the master suite and three fireplaces.
Barrymore and her husband are also planning on having their second baby sometime soon because the actress doesn't want her one-year-old daughter Olive to grow up without a brother or sister.
