As "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 is currently in production in Dublin, the show has added more new characters to the story.
Entertainment Weekly reports that veteran actor Brian Cox will be joining the show as a guest star. According to the report, Cox will be playing the role of Jared Talbot, who is the father of Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett). During the Season 2 finale, Ethan surrendered himself to the Scotland Yard and he was placed on a ship that was heading to America.
Cox's character was described as a powerful rancher who has been looking for his son for a long time. It was reported that Talbot will stop at nothing just to get his son back. Ethan was seen running from his father from the very beginning of the show, and this time, there could be an intense reunion between the two in Season 3.
Crossmap reports that Cox's character will be introduced in the show during the middle part of Season 3. In addition, he will be appearing in at least two episodes in the next season.
Other new cast additions have been confirmed earlier, which include Perdita Weeks, who will be playing the role of Catriona Hartdegan, who will become a very important ally to Eva Green's character Vanessa. Shazad Latif was also confirmed to join the show as the iconic character, Dr. Henry Jekyll.
Other new characters are Dr. Alexander Sweet, which will be played by Christian Camargo; Justine, which will be played by Jessica Barden; and Wes Studi will play the Native American Kaetenay. It was confirmed that Patti LuPone will be returning to the show in a new character named Dr. Seward who is an American therapist.
As of writing, there is still no confirmed release date for "Penny Dreadful" Season 3, but it is expected to premiere in the early part of 2016.
