First of all, the latest news is that Asus is releasing a new smartphone named "Asus Zenfone 2 Laser" in the US for $199. But with that info at hand, it is worth mentioning that Asus may have this not-so-adorable habit of confusing people with their devices' names. You see, this isn't the company's "Zenfone 2 Laser" that has been made available to the rest of the world. In fact, the US released "Zenfone 2 Laser" is but a member of the other "Zenfone 2 Laser" phones which came  with these model numbers - ZE500KL, ZE601KL, ZE550KL, and, ZE500KG. The US released Zenfone is a never before released model with a ZE551KL label.

If you got enough confusion regarding the multiple "Zenfone 2 Lasers", take note that the Zenfone we are talking about here is the US released one, and its specs are as follows:

It's got a 1080p 5.5 inch screen, a 13 MP primary camera with laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash. The front camera is 5 MP, the RAM is 3 GB, and the internal storage is 16 GB or 32 GB. There will be a microSD slot for memory expansion as well. The phone will be powered  by Snapdragon 615 SoC with 1.7 GHz octa core Cortex A53 CPU and it will run Android Lollipop. Also, this Zenfone will have dual sim functions, as well as LTE network support. The battery will be a 3000 mAh battery.

This "Zenfone 2 Laser" is already available at the Asus online store as well as in Newegg. Additional info regarding this device is that it is compatible with AT & T, T Mobile, and other MVNO's that operate using the frequency of the mentioned carriers. The "Zenfone 2 Laser" will not be working on Sprint, Verizon, and other CDMA carriers.

For the price, the 16 GB variant is at $199 and the 32 GB variant is at $249. No carrier contracts necessary, the "Zenfone 2 Laser" is sold unlocked.
