The hilarious mom and daughter tandem Bonnie and Christy just returned to television for the premiere of "Mom" Season 3. On Thursday night, Bonnie (Allison Janney) and Christy's (Anna Faris) more emotional sides have been revealed.

The episode premiered with Bonnie learning that her mother wants to reach out to her before she passes away, according to We Got This Covered.

Christy encouraged her mom to allow her grandmother to meet up with her even just for the last time. However, Bonnie didn't like the idea because all she wanted to focus on was her sobriety.

Meanwhile, Christy bumped into an old woman whom she thought was her real grandmother because the woman smelled like gingerbread. It took Christy some time to realize that her real grandmother usually smelled of cigarette smoke.

While speaking with the kindly old woman, Christy decided to talk about her troubled past. She also said that she's slowly trying to fix her life.

"I'm glad she could be a better mother to you than I was to her," the old woman said.

"Let's just say it's a horserace," Christy joked.

Meanwhile, Christy finally convinced Bonnie to meet up with her mom Shirley. When she finally did, Shirley didn't waste any more time to explain to Bonnie the real reason why she decided to leave her behind.

According to Shirley, she didn't have any money to raise and support her daughter. Bonnie didn't take this revelation very lightly because she's also in a similar situation at the moment. However, even if she doesn't have much money, she decided to stick around with her daughter Christy, according to TV Line.

Towards the end of the episode, Marjorie convinced Bonnie to patch things up with her mother. Unfortunately, Bonnie and her mom Shirley still didn't have the closure that they both deserve. Still, fans believe that Shirley return and everything will be fixed between them.
