"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" star Shailene Woodley will be headlining the 2016 film "Snowden." However, some fans believe that it will be quite difficult for the actress to veer away from her role as Tris in the hit "Divergent" franchise.
Woodley will be starring alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Nicholas Cage, Melissa Leo and Zachary Quinto in the film, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, according to Fashion & Style, there are actually some reasons why fans would love to see Woodley in another role. It is important to note that the actress also starred in the hit John Green movie adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars." The film was highly successful.
First, it's possible that Woodley can win an Oscar for playing the role of Lindsay Mills. The publication claimed that this role will also help expand Woodley's acting range, so it's possible that she will excel in it.
Additionally, Woodley's performance in "Snowden" will most likely leave her fans on the edge of their seats. In real life, Lindsay had to make a difficult decision which resulted in her following her boyfriend into exile in Russia.
"There's a good chance that the 'Snowden' movie will explore Mills' emotions after discovering that her boyfriend leaked classified information from the NSA," the publication noted.
Lastly, a role in "Snowden" will be good for Woodley because she will once again be able to prove her worth to all of the directors in Hollywood. This means that she will most likely be tapped to star in another film if "Snowden" does really well.
In other news, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" will be released two months ahead of "Snowden." This gives Woodley's fans two movie options to watch next year.
"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 18, 2016. "Snowden" will premiere on May 13, 2016.
