In Justin Bieber's new interview with Billboard, the 21-year-old pop icon spoke about his relationship with his mother, Pattie Mallette. He admitted that for the last two years, he had no sincere connection with her during the time that he was still searching for himself.

In the past years, Bieber was in a strange position to be serious with his career. He hit the headlines with a bad reputation for public urination, drag racing, deportation, involvement in Brazilian brothels, illegal monkeys and more. Although he claimed that not all of the news were true, he said that it was during those times that he felt he couldn't face his mom, Billboard reports.

Describing his relationship with his mother, he claimed it was "pretty nonexisting. I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was. We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She's living in Hawaii now, so it's hard, but getting better. She's an amazing woman and I love her."

When it comes to Bieber's ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, the "Sorry" singer admitted that he will always love her and it is hard to forget her, International Business Times reports.

"I'm proud of the woman she is today," he said, adding that it's "too soon" since their split in 2014 for him to get serious with anyone else. "When you love someone that much, even if something comes between you, it's a love that never really dies."

Bieber also talked about the girls in his life, including Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. He claimed his relationship was never really serious with the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star and that the 18-year-old model is one of his best friends in the entire world. Bieber also told the magazine that he is still in a getting-to-know stage with Jayde Pierce, whom he's known for just six months.
