The Hajime Isayama's "Attack on Titan" manga has been adapted to anime series. It's freshman season had been a success, thus season 2 has been confirmed in 2016.
Fans have been expecting that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will premier soon, but as so far the there is no specific time frame that has been confirmed by its studio. The only concrete date that has been revealed is in the second half of 2016.
Ecumenical News says that the pilot episode of "Attack on Titan" season 2 will return in mid 2016. In one of the interviews of director TetsurÅ Araki, he simply said that the anime will start airing in the 2nd half of 2016.
As for the plot, it is rumored that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will have "more political undertones" aside from revealing to the audience and avid fans why Eren Yeager is able to transform himself into a titan.
In previously reported spoilers of season 2 of "Attack on Titan," it has been noted that Eren will lead an uprising against the corrupt government system. ". The power behind the throne will supposedly be revealed," and Eren will be able to overthrow the ruling monarchy.
Aside from the plot of the sophomore season of "Attack on Titan," it has been also reported that this will be the last season for the anime series. Ecumenical News has cited CBR's report that "creator Kawakubo Shintaro said that the manga is now "60 percent finished," with only three years of chapters left to it. This might well mean that soon after the chapters wrap up, the small screen adaptation might also follow."
"Attack on Titan" anime series has been following the manga arc. Vine Report states the anime production of "Shingeki no Kyojin" is following the "guideline which may state that there should be at least four arcs available from the new manga generated by the original creator Hajime Isayama." This policy is to ensure that there's enough source material to keep the anime series be aired on the small screen.
