Think Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson. "Baywatch" remake is happening.
It was reported earlier that the remake starts filming early next year and when the news broke out confirming Efron and Johnson's inclusion in "Baywatch" cast, they were inundated with calls from agents to managers in the hope of snatching the role of CJ Parker, Pamela Anderson's character in the 1990's popular television series.
Since it was established who the hunks would be, fans waited and speculated who would be the leading ladies. The name of former "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev and "Pretty Little Liars'" Ashley Benson came up in a report by Hollywood Life. Both were shortlisted and it now remains to be seen who would take up the role of CJ. Parker. One thing certain is that the male leads are also pretty excited to find out who would be their leading ladies.
In related news, Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff or any of the original cast will not be included in the "Baywatch" movie remake.
Anderson, in an interview TMZ, frankly stated that, "No one appreciates remake." In fact, she previously foretold and shared with Hollywood Life, during PETA's 30th anniversary celebration on Sept. 30, that the remake was not happening. Obviously, she's wrong.
Hasselhoff, on the other hand, revealed that he does not want "Baywatch" to become a joke with This Morning. He was asked if he will be involved, he replied outright that he didn't know. He answered the same way when questioned if he wants to be in the film. He said, "If Baywatch was going to be a send up or a joke, I don't think so."
The movie will be directed by and the storyline may deviate from the original classic. According to Reuters, Efron said, "I don't think it's going to be much like the old Baywatch, to be honest. I think we're going to kind of reinvent it in a big way."
