Just last month, Paramount surprised millions when they announced that they hired an entire writer's room led by Academy award winner Akiva Goldman, to plan the future of the Transformers franchise for the next 10 years. Consequently, Hasbro also teased fans when they revealed that the franchise will have multiple sequels, spinoff and even TV Shows after Transformers 5. In a recent interview with IGN, Goldman dishes out more details of what is in store for the autobots.
The writer revealed that instead of having a continuous plot that the Transformers films have shown in the past, the next movies will be more self-contained and episodic, while following a bigger storyline.
"Our hope is that they are all interconnected and of course standalone, right? I think architecturally, the best -- I think I believe this -- the best serialized storytelling has integrity from start to finish of the episode, whether it be TV or a movie or comic book or novel series or short story series. You want to be able to satisfy both appetites -- which I think is very different from procedural or episodic. You want to feed the instinct for the short-term gratification and the long-term gratification. So we're trying to do both," explained Goldman.
When asked if he thinks the human element is important to the movie, Goldman said that there is something fundamentally great about the interaction between humans and the Transformers. He adds that the human element is something inevitable for the movie.
Goldman also confirms a prequel but perhaps not what the fans are expecting. According to him, the prequel takes place before Optimus and Megatron came to Earth, and it's going to be an animated movie! Fans will finally get to see the story behind the Transformers, but it's not certain yet whether it is going to be released on cinemas or just on TV.
