Talks surrounding "Castle" Season 8 being the show's last on ABC continue to make rounds on the Internet, especially with its most recent episode hitting an all time low in ratings. Will the Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic-led series be able to live for one more season on ABC?

"Castle" Season 8 is rumored to be the ABC crime drama's last on TV, as the show's ratings continue to drop with each and every episode. In an earlier report from Carter Matt, the notion on whether or not fans should be worried about the show's future on air was raised.

According to the publication, since "Castle" Season 8 premiered last Sept. 2015, ratings continue to drop. The outlet also listed several possible reasons for the sudden drop in viewership, including the fact that the show recently aired Det. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and Rick Castle's (Nathan Fillion) breakup.

However, the outlet noted that the ratings only dropped 5 percent or so following the said breakup. The episode titled "The Nose" only managed to get a 1.1 rating among viewers aged 18-49. These ratings, unfortunately, were lower than last season's lowest average of 1.6.

Now, the latest report on "Castle" ratings from Carter Matt note that ratings for the series continue to hit an all time low. According to the outlet, the latest episode of the ABC police procedural drama received a 1.0 rating in the same demographic, which is the show's lowest rating of all time.

While the outlet cited that one possible reason for the drop in ratings is because of Katic's absence during the said episode, it is highly unlikely the reason. Katic's absence in the episode has been made known to fans and viewers in advance, which leaves them with one more reason. According to the outlet, ratings may have dropped because the show went on a two-week hiatus before airing a new episode on TV.
