"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev will reportedly star in the upcoming "Baywatch" movie.

According to Mirror UK, Dobrev will play the lead role in the film that will also feature Zac Efron and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. However, Dobrev is not yet officially cast for the role because she is still up against seven other female celebrities who are equally good and talented.

According to Deadline, the producers of the film are also eyeing "Pretty Little Liars" star Ashley Benson, "True Detective" actress Alexandra Daddario, "X-Men: Apocalypse" star Alexandra Shipp, "Teen Wolf" actress Shelly Hennig, "The Duff" star Bianca Santos and "Big Time Rush" actress Denyse Tontz.

The upcoming "Baywatch" film will be directed by Seth Gordon and produced by Johnson and Dany Garcia.

In other news, there are rumors that Dobrev will reprise her role on "The Vampire Diaries" during its finale episode. As of late, the hit The CW series is still on its seventh season. It is still unclear if the series will be renewed by the network for Season 8 and beyond.

However, executive producer Julie Plec previously revealed that she had a conversation with Dobrev a few months back. During that time, "The Final Girls" actress said that she is open to reprising her role as Elena Gilbert on the show if it's necessary.

"Nina has always said that if there's something for her to do in the series finale that she will be there to do it. When she left, she said, 'I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can't wait to come back and put her to bed again,'" Plec told Entertainment Weekly.

At present, Elena is still lying in the casket and waiting to be resurrected.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 airs Thursdays on The CW.
