Testing period for the iOS version of Firefox, Mozilla's popular web browser, has ended. Firefox for iOS is now available for download to anyone with an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
Mozilla has always been doing their test phases, so it is no surprise that before the launch of the Firefox for iOS, it has gone through many test phases.
Techcruch reported that last December the non-profit browser maker would reverse its long-held stance against developing software for the App Store.Thereafter, testers was able to try the earlier version of Firefox for iOS in May. Then in September, the first public beta was launched. And today, we have the final version of the web browser.
There is no argue that Firefox is a little bit late. Apple has its own Safari that is pre-installed on all iOS devices. Google Chrome is the most popular web browser and is the top choice by users. So what is to expect from Mozilla?
Accordingly, Firefox for iOS is aimed at Mozilla users which enables them to bring their saved bookmarks, browsing history, tabs and passwords to mobile. Moreover, features like search prediction, its 'visual' tab management system, and incognito browsing are available on the app, as well. Mozilla is hoping that these features will be able to attract users.
With the late entrance to mobile market, Mozilla would have to invest in new features that are not being delivered by competing browsers such as Safari, Chrome and Opera.
If your Apple device is running iOS 8.2 or newer, you can download Firefox for iOS here.
Do you think Mozilla's Firefox for iOS would taste success, despite safari being the most preferred browser by Apple users because it is already pre-installed or Chrome being the top choice of everyone? Will you download the app on your iDevices?
