The Android 6.0 Marshmallow has reached a number of Android users in the United States. However, Apple's latest iOS 9.1 update reportedly has been dispersed to more Apple users.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as of the previous week, has only reached a small number of its own users. Overall, only about 0.3 percent has gotten the latest update from Google. Majority of Android phones are still with Kitkat, followed by Jellybean, and then Lollipop, as Android Developer Dashboard reported.
Apple's iOS 9, however, has already reached 50 percent of its users in the first week alone, following its release in September. By the middle of October, the number was already at 61 percent. Users are still getting the latest iOS update and has reached 66 percent as of Nov. 2, MacRumors reported.
iOS device owners, a lot of them, are still using the iOS 8, gathering 25 percent of the total iOS users' population. While a very small number of users are still with the much older iOS, getting a nine percent share. Apple's latest update, iOS 9.1, has accounted for about five percent of the total increase for the latest adoption. The latest update was released two weeks ago.
Android Lollipop with both Android 5.0 and 5.1 brings in 25 percent of the users. This has been in that range for the last few months, 23 percent in September. Predominantly, 38 percent is still using the two-year-old Kitkat 4.4.
Google has been aware of its consumers' frustration when it comes to updates. But, it really cannot be blamed on Google, since many carriers and manufacturers have tried to customize the Android OS for their individual handsets before releasing it in the open.
Other manufacturers like HTC, on the other hand, has promised its One A9 users that they will be receiving Android updates 15 days after they are released. Motorola, another handset manufacturer, is also painstakingly doing the necessary steps to have its users have the latest updates, as well.
