Former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner tried to pacify her bashers after she had delivered her speech during the 7th Annual Speaker Series luncheon for the Chicago House, a non-profit organization that supports the LGBTQ members who are in need.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the 65-year-old who was the keynote speaker in the said event was greeted by bashers outside the venue. In the video taken after the luncheon, Caitlyn appears to calmly confront the protesters while one person was shouting loudly, "You are an insult to trans people, you are an insult to women."
The video has already been deleted but ET was able to get a feedback from B96 Chicago radio personality Showbiz Shelley saying, "The chaos outside was a great contrast to the uplifting atmosphere inside where Caitlyn had just given her speech. I thought she handled the situation with poise. By confronting the protesters in the way she did, she emphasized the themes she talked about in her speech. To be respectful, be brave and stand up for what you believe in."
In a separate interview, the event's host, Christina Karl tells ET that Caitlyn was the perfect choice to be the speaker at the fundraiser. She adds the 'I Am Cait' star had been under the scrutiny of media a number of times, so she has the capacity to take the negative responses she would get for asserting her beliefs in behalf of the transgenders who need help.
NYDaily reports that the protesters are part of the group "I Ain't Cait," a reference to Jenner's documentary series, "I Am Cait." Jenner's bashers brought their sentiments to Facebook when they criticized the non-profit organization for choosing her as its speaker. On their page, it says, "Who, you may ask, did they select to speak on the issues facing trans people and especially trans women in our city? Caitlyn Jenner, who lives in a mansion and has a net worth of millions of dollars, while the average trans person has a 41 percent chance of experienceing homelesness (sic) and a nearly 50 percent chance of living off less than $10k per year."
