"X-Factor" judge Simon Cowell said he is not a conventional dad, partly because he is not a conventional man either.
The father of 21-month-old Eric said he is not a conventional dad in the sense that he doesn't change diapers or prepare his son's food, but Cowell said that doesn't mean he doesn't dote on him.
"I adore my son. We make each other laugh. We play with the dogs. I've taught him to share, to say please and thank you. Whatever he has he offers it to me," Cowell said, according to an article on NZHerald.
Cowell, however, stated that he is "more inclined to give his fortune to good causes than leave it to his son." The former American Idol judge has an estimated fortune of more than £355 million.
He said he does not like the idea of passing it down from generation to generation. "I mean, I find that quite disgusting. No one ever gave me a penny and I believe part of my drive was to do with the fact I had nothing to lose. That gives you a lot of energy."
Eric is Cowell's son with Lauren Silverman, former wife of millionaire property developer Andrew Silverman. Cowell's affair with Lauren is believed to date back to 2009 when she was still married to Andrew Silverman. The affair became public knowledge toward the end of July 2013 when news about Lauren's pregnancy spread.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Cowell said he isn't proud of the circumstances of how his relationship with Lauren came about, but he shared that fatherhood and settling down have changed him in a major way.
