Showtime teased the fans of the psychological thriller 'Penny Dreadful' when the official Facebook page of the show posted a photo last Friday for the much awaited Season 3.

In the chilling photo, Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) hopelessly rests on her alienist Dr. Seward's (Patti LuPone) lap. Vanessa is depicted with a straightjacket and a weeping expression on her face. The doctor is grasping the patient by her head, while Vanessa's face spells desperation. Fans are all the more intrigued by the caption, "Evil is something Vanessa Ives cannot escape. Here's the chilling first look at Penny Dreadful season three!"

Thousands of viewers of the horror drama come up with their own speculations and interpretations from the sneak peek. Many believe that LuPone is mentally destroying Vanessa instead of helping her get over the evil forces that overpower her. But that is just one of the many guesses from fans all over the world. The post has received over 2,000 comments, 3,000 shares and 30,000 likes.

Tony Award winner LuPone who played the guest role of the Cut-Wife in Season 2 returns for Season 3, this time as a regular cast, playing the role of  Dr. Seward. Other stars who will join Penny Dreadful are Wes Studi from the movie 'A Million Ways to Die in the West', Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor), Shazad Latif (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Sam Barnett (Jupiter Ascending), among others.

According to its press release, Penny Dreadful is created, written and produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan who produced movies such as 'Hugo,' 'The Aviator' and 'Gladiator.' The series is a co-production with Showtime and Sky.

The anticipated new season is set to be released by May 2016, and the cast and crew are now in full production and are currently filming in Dublin, Ireland.
