Michael Jordan's jersey that he wore in his final regular-season game with the Chicago Bulls fetched at auction early Sunday for $173,240.

The price of the jersey is the highest amount paid for a collectible item for Jordan at an auction, surpassing Jordan's "flu game" shoes, which was sold for just under $105,000 last year.

According to ESPN, Ken Golden of Goldin Auctions has said about the jersey that, "No one who has been out of the game fewer than fifteen years has had items sell for these kinds of prices." Golden has also sold another pair of game-worn shoes for $34,150 from the 1996 NBA Finals.

The jersey, authenticated by jersey authenticator Mei Gray, has matched the jersey worn on April 18, 1998 by Jordan when he scored 44 points against the New York Knicks, where it was also the last time he wore it in a regular-season game on the United Center floor.

Other collectible items that were sold in the auction included the personal 1986 World Series trophy of Keith Hernandez worth $51,240, a pair of signed goggles of Moses Malone worth $5,795, a 1998 Derek Jeter batting helmet  worth $8,540, and Lawrence Phillips' ring worth 3,660 from the 1995 Nebraska NCAA title.

The jersey worn by Michael Jordan in the final regular-season game with the Chicago Bulls was paid by an unnamed person for $173,240.

The No. 23 jersey worn by Jordan is by far the priciest item sold at the auction. Before this, the priciest item that was sold was the pair of shoes Jordan wore during the infamous "flu game" which sold for $105,000, as reported by Bleacher Report.

It's not the final time that Jordan wore the white and red No. 23. He has worn the jersey throughout the entire playoffs that season, and it culminated on a win in Game 6 of the NBA Finals over Byron Russell.

Jordan's jersey showed the power of his legacy for nearly two decades until he last donned a Bulls uniform.
