Zayn Malik is back on the music scene after leaving his former band, "One Direction." As per Billboard, during his interview with "The Fader," Malik admitted that being with the band didn't give him much freedom to explore and work on his own music. He also said that being with the band didn't give him the freedom to 'experiment creatively'.
During the interview, ex 1D member also stated that his fans will get a more intimate view on what's Zayn's music is. He also added that his new music will eventually reveal his reason for leaving the band.
"I don't feel like people really know what I'm going to give them, musically, and once they hear it, I feel like they will understand me a little bit more, and they'll understand why I did what I did, and why I left the band, and why I had to write this s**t down. Because for five - not even for five years, for 10 years, this album has been in my brain, and it's just been there, sat with me, needing to be out."
People then got a sneak peek on what's instore for the fans when his new album would be out, Malik shared that his former band, "One Direction", inspired him to create his own music.
"Life experiences have just been the influences for the album and just what I've been through, especially in the last five years, with being in the band and everything."
His new album would also be saturated by his personal musical choices and influences.
"I used to listen to a lot of Bollywood being a kid and stuff, so that definitely influenced the music a little bit. And then as I got older, I guess I just started listening to a lot of my dad's old records, like '90s stuff - a lot of R&B and a lot of rap."
