After UFC Champ Holly Holm's triumphant win over fan favorite Ronda Rousey, TMZ reported that she is nominated to be inducted in the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame.

Despite the Rowdy's fiery words regarding the newest champion prior to their bout, NMSHOF president Marty Saiz shared that no one in the state could say anything bad about class act Holly Holm. Saiz also announced that Holm will be awarded New Mexico's Pro Athlete of the Year, thanks to her humility and her being a good role model to many athletes.

The newest women's bantamweight champion remained classy and humble post-fight as she called Rousey a 'legend' and that her bashers should give her a break after the shocking loss. After UFC fans dismantled Rousey after the fight, Holm was quick to come to her defense and said "I think people can be pretty brutal, and when you're in the spot that she's in, there are people who are just going to jump ship and I don't ever wish for that." Mashable lauds Holm for being impressive even outside the octagon. Prior to this, Holm said that she knew that Ronda Rousey was beatable -- despite her crazy record before their bout.

What's next for the rising MMA star? According to an article on MMA Junkie, Joe Silva said that she should get a rematch with Ronda Rousey at UFC 200 for her first title defense. This would be ideal since Ronda planned to take time off the fighting world to film movies and Holm could be enjoying her time as a full-fledged UFC champ.

It's a great time to be Holly Holm as Albuquerque, NM has named November 'Holly Holm Month.' Now that's how you celebrate a town hero!
