It's been almost 4 years since Jeremy Lin swept the NBA world like a storm. Linsanity was the talk of the town when Lin was still with the Knicks. The former New York Knicks point-guard captivated not just New York but the whole world as well during those days.
However, such popularity gradually dwindled especially when he was transferred to LA Lakers under coach Byron Scott. And now that he is in Charlotte Hornets, Lin is more than elated and determined to be playing a bigger role for the team. As the team's sixth man, Lin is slowly revealing once again the reason behind 'Linsanity'.
It was a surprise to almost everyone that a once NBA star went to a considerably smaller market like Hornets. Coming from larger markets like Knicks, Rockets and Lakers, such decision was peculiar. However, for Lin, his decision to be with the Hornets is part of God's plan. Lin via nypost stated that;
"Funny how God works things out. Charlotte wasn't on the top-six list, but I ended up here. That's how it ends up for me. It always ends up the way I never imagined. Ever. I wasn't surprised. I'll be surprised when things are pretty smooth and clear.''
There were some offers for Lin before Hornets knocked on his doorstep. According to him, his hometown's team, Golden State Warriors, offered him a chance to play for them. However, though he had the idea of the Warriors' greatness, Lin veered away from the offer. After slightly entertaining his possible transfer to the Warriors, Lin realized that he wanted a bigger role. Lin then shared via nypost that;
"I entertained it [pertaining to Warriors' offer]. I just felt like they had something great going there, and if I went there, it would be a very limited role. I felt like, 'I'm 27 now.' I want to find where I can be as big a part of a successful team as I can.''
The idea of Lin going to the Warriors was well anticipated by some fans. 2paragraphs even outlined some reason on why Lin would work for Golden State. According to the same website, Lin would be a great fit for the Warriors especially with MVP Stephen Curry, for both share same belief and "attitudes toward success." Aside from the fact that Lin is a native from California, he would also be a good fit for Steve Kerr's style, as affirmed by Klay Thompson's dad, former NBA star Mychal Thompson.
Despite these posited arguments, Lin opted to choose the Hornets where he can be more useful. However, with just a two year contract with the Hornets, there would still be a great chance that Lin might play for his hometown, just like what LeBron James did.
