Fashion designer Monique Lhuillier's Manhattan flagship is on the market for $26.5 million.
According to The Real Deal, Lhuillier opened her first boutique in the United States back in 2012 and it was located at the lower floors of a converted townhouse at 19 East 71st Street. At that time, her boutique was selling wedding dresses, shoes and chandeliers.
The building which is 10,145 square feet has 10 residential apartments and a 16,000-square-foot area open for any development. Reportedly, the Rubin family who owned the building for more than 60 years is planning to sell the property. They intend to make such sale in order to divide the assets between their families.
Joe Koicim, David Lloyd and Peter Von Der Ahe of Marcus and Millichap have the listing. Von Der Ahe said, "We find that buildings between Fifth and Madison avenues appeal to a much wider audience than other property types."
He also added that with those types of buildings, a lot will be interested "even from foreign high net worth individuals to local companies." There are reports that properties near the Upper East Side shopping area attracted a great deal of investors for the past months.
Meanwhile, Lhuillier is famously known for dressing up celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and even the first lady, Michelle Obama. E! Online reported that one of Monique's latest celebrity clients is actress, Jamie Chung.
Jamie got married earlier this month to her longtime boyfriend, Bryan Greenberg in a romantic ceremony in Santa Barbara. The "Once Upon a Time" actress was wearing one of Lhuillier's masterpieces, a custom made long-sleeve wedding gown. It was a delicate lace dress with a soft V-neckline which was a picture of pure elegance.
