It is confirmed. Melissa Benoist, the star of the new popular television super hero series, Supergirl, will play alongside her real-life love and husband, Blake Jenner.

Jenner will play Adam Foster, a potential love interest for Kara. Foster is a mysterious character from her boss' Cat Grant's past. Cat is played by Calista Flockhart who popularized the Fox comedy-drama series, Ally McBeal. The news of Jenner's casting on the show was confirmed by E! News.

He and Kara will meet as he comes to National City and as this happens, the two will find themselves developing some kind of relationship. Jenner's role will be set for multiple episodes and his very first appearance on the series is scheduled early next year.

Benoist and Jenner met on the set of the highly-successful television musical series, Glee, in 2012. The two were off-and-on love interests in the show and have managed to take their relationship a step further by tying the knot early this year after getting engaged in July 2013.

But those that are already shipping Supergirl with James Olsen, played by Mechad Brooks, may find the addition of Foster a totally new concept. However, to those who have loved Marley and Ryder in Glee will find this a reprise of their romance that did not get its happy ending in the show.

Benoist on the other hand has more exciting things to think about rather than her love interests in the show. She expressed her love for her work as Kara in an interview by E! News, "I just would like her journey to be something that any person could relate to and/or be affected by and inspired by. I think part of the draw of the comic book genre is that it is a way to escape and be inspired by something and be something greater than yourself: A strong being that can accomplish the unthinkable," she continued, "But also what I love about her is that she struggles and the ebb and flow of her life is really human. I just hope that people can relate to it."
