Avid fans and die-hard gamers of "The Legend of Zelda" have something to celebrate. This is after game developer Nintendo revealed that a female lead character from "Hyrule Warriors Legends" named Linkle will be an additional playable character in the game. Linkle is a female version of Link, and it was said that the game is slated to be released in early 2016, according to Master Herald.

"The love interest between Link and Zelda will have a slightly different tone if Link himself is not in the game but is replaced by Linkle, but of course that will also be a minor detail in the grand scheme of things. And of course, the game is not actually going to be in the main canon of the franchise, as it's actually a spin-off, so no matter what the writers decide to do with the character of Linkle, it won't really have any impact on the main story of the franchise as a whole," the report said.

According to the report, Linkle has made several appearances already in an art book in Wii U's popular game, "Hyrule Warriors." However, it was noted that the female lead character was actually a rejected version of Link, which is a male character who was not able to succeed in the final game.

"The addition of Linkle and the Wind Waker characters to Hyrule Warriors Legends will certainly help the game feel like much more than a mere port of the Hyrule Warriors game on the Wii U. It will be interesting to see if gamers will embrace the idea of a female Link, however, especially considering the female Link controversy when fans believed a female Link was in the next main series Zelda game. Overall, Linkle seems like an interesting new character for the Zelda franchise, and hopefully she shows up in future titles besides just Hyrule Warriors Legends," Game Rant said.

"Linkle joins Tetra and King Daphnes from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Skull Kid from Majora's Mask as the new characters joining Hyrule Warriors for the 3DS version," according to International Business Times UK.
