In a similar way where Facebook allows you to block old memories with their 'On This Day' feature, the social media giant is also allowing you to control the Facebook interactions you get with your exes.

As of recently, the only way to make your ex invisible to you on Facebook is to hide them from your feed, unfriend them, or ultimately blocking them.

But now, the social media website is testing new tools so your current breakup won't cause you any more emotional damage. Meaning, you would be able to control how much you see of your ex through pop up options.

This Facebook relationship tool has three parts. The first lets you decide how much you see your ex on the platform, and the second tool limits your ex's view of you. Lastly, there is also a tool that limits other people's view of posts that involve you and your ex. This means that you do not have to go back through the years of your Timeline to delete posts individually (you do hate it when someone likes your post from a century ago and it shows up on the Feed, right?).

This plan is part of the company's effort to develop a more considerate platform for people going through heartbreaks. Facebook Product Manager Kelly Winters says, "This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives,"

Winters also says that they hope these tools will help Facebook users end their relationships with more ease and comfort.

As of now, these new tools are still being tested on US mobile devices. An international roll out of this new feature will follow based on the users' feedback. In case this new tool reaches international success, it will be great news for people who are undergoing breakup. Not that breakups are something worth looking forward to, it's just something that is rather inevitable. With Facebook's new relationship tool, people will be one step nearer emotional recovery - one courtesy that FB users from years ago wasn't given.
