"Star Wars: Battle Front" is now available and ready to be enjoyed by fans worldwide. They can also expect more "Star Wars" games from Electronic Arts, the game publisher, for the years to come since EA and Disney have already signed a decade long contract for the game franchise.
EA will be creating more "Star Wars" themed games after it has successfully launched "Star Wars: Battlefront." EA also said that the future games will not be limited to the console and PC, but they will soon venture out on the mobile platform as well. EA Chief Financial Officer, Blake Jorgensen made the announcement during the UBS Global Technology Conference held in San Francisco, as reported by GameSpot.
"It's a big effort for us, and I don't think there's a human being in the world who hasn't heard of the Star Wars movie coming. And so, [it's a] great opportunity," as Jorgensen said. The 10-year long contract actually started years before, but Jorgensen disclosed no other specific details.
EA can cover much about anything concerning the "Star Wars" franchise. Disney, the current owner of "Star Wars," have given the blessing to the company to cover not only the six previous movies, but as well as, to the soon to be released one, as Parent Herald said.
"We struck a licensing deal with Disney a few years back that's almost ten years in length. The game that comes out tomorrow, Star Wars Battlefront, is a traditional first-person style shooter game," Jorgensen explained. "Our goal is to make future Battlefront games as well as other style games around the Star Wars franchise, both on mobile as well as console and PC."
On other news, a new "Star Wars" RPG game of some sort is rumored to be in the works by former Naughty Dog writer and "Uncharted" director Amy Hennig. He is teaming up with Visceral Games on this project.
"Star Wars: Battlefront" is now available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 PC platform.
