After leaving One Direction last March, Zayn Malik is really pushing things on his own, especially his new solo career. Soon, he will be releasing his first single entitle "Befour," from his first solo album.
The 22-year old ex-1D member will be on the cover of Fader, a New York music magazine, for its December issue. This will also be the first time that Malik talked about his first single from his first soon-to-be released solo album. The album does not have a name yet, but Malik is working on it.
"The album - I have a name for it in my head right now, but I don't want to tell you what the album name is - all the songs are different genres. They don't really fit a specific type of music. They're not like, 'This is funk, this is soul, this is upbeat, this is a dance tune.' Nothing is like that. I don't really know what my style is yet. I'm kind of just showing what my influences are," as Fader reported.
He also added the first single, "Befour," is in reference to the last One Direction's album "Four," when he was still with them. He also shared his music influences like Bollywood and 90's RnB albums, which his dad listens to most of the time, that affected his love for music.
Malik, who was with One Direction for five years, also talked about the reasons why he left the band. This is also the first major interview he had since he left the band. Malik proceeded with saying that his first album really does say a lot about his musical point of view, which is unparalleled to what One Direction has done before, according to Billboard's report.
He then added that he is hoping that One Direction fans can understand the reason why he has to leave the band and pursue things on his own. This has been a hard decision for Malik to do, but he has wanted to do this solo project for the past 10 years or so.
