The Fast and The Furious actor Vin Diesel recently confirmed that a new movie in the Riddick series is in the works.
And that's not all, there is a bonus for all his fans: a spinoff television show to go with it is now being planned as well!
Vin Diesel fans were overjoyed to hear the news coming straight from The Chronicles of Riddick actor. he made the announcement through Instagram where he has 13.4 million followers, an article from The Malay Mail Online revealed.
The actor who is behind other popular movie series such as Fast and Furious and xXx, was just talking about the possibility of returning to his beloved franchises last month. Diesel described what his company's plans are regarding the new TV series. He mentioned that they are working out some plans to develop a show called Merc City. His post, which included a still from 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick movie, said that the TV show "will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe." It will be titled Furia from the name of the planet that Riddick and his people call home.
The 48-year-old actor revealed that filmmaker David Twohy is also set to start writing the script for the next Riddick movie next month. DT has written and directed every entry in the Riddick universe.
It was in 2000 when the Riddick universe finally launched. The first of the series was Pitch Black and then followed by Chronicles. After almost a decade, Riddick followed in 2013.
Diesel has his own production company, One Race Films and this will produce the movie. His new TV division on the other hand will be producing the television series. No further details were revealed regarding the movie and TV show.
