"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 new cast member Martin Henderson recently talked about his character Nathan Riggs on the show.

In an interview with TV Line, Henderson also weighed in on rumors that his character will be replacing Patrick Dempsey's Derek Shepherd.

The actor said that he knows how much people loved Derek on the show. This is why he doesn't think he will be able to replace him ever.

Henderson added that he believes the comparison is inevitable especially since he's just one of the few male cast members who were tapped to join the ABC series for season 12.

"I'm my own person and my own actor and what I do is my thing. And what Patrick does is his thing; and he did it brilliantly. It would be disrespectful to the audience to suggest that my character would be a replacement. I see myself more as an addition to an existing show," he said.

Meanwhile, Henderson said that it's possible Nathan and Meredith could fall in love with each other, according to Design N Trend.

This is because Nathan could be paired with just about any female character on the show.

As early as now, Meredith and Nathan already have a huge following.

One fan @KM wrote, "I will be happy if Meredith ends up with him, I don't want her to be alone forever. You can't have just true love, life does not always work like that."

Another fan @Al added, "I think his character is a great addition to the show! Grey's is better when bringing in more mature doctors. Ditch bringing in interns (though the new ones aren't as bad as the last ones).

@Mandy wrote, "I like him (actor and character so far). I'm interested in his story no matter who he ends up paired with.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 airs every Thursday night on ABC.
