In the speculated final season of the sci-fi series "Person Of Interest," it is said that the stakes are now higher than ever and a major character has confirmed her return.

According to Crossmap, in the season 4 finale of the show, Finch (Michael Emerson) and Root (Amy Acker) found themselves stuck in a hard place which is why the needed to reinvent the Machine in order for it to defeat the Samaritan once and for all. However this will not be easy and it is expected that the two will be butting each other's heads under the pressure to make the Machine better.

In an interview, actress Amy Acker said that Root will be convincing Finch that they need to do the modifications on the Machine while they are rebuilding it. Executive Producer Jonah Nolan added that the two characters will be seen arguing while they are adjusting some things on The Machine. He explained that the stakes are higher this time and it is also normal for the characters to change their strategies in defeating the Samaritan.

Meanwhile, Christian Today reported that Sarah Shahi will be returning for "Person of Interest" season 5 and will reprise her role as Sameen Shaw. It was said that after what the Samaritan did to her, Shaw will not be the same Shaw as before. Shahi revealed in an interview earlier that the fans will finally see what happened to her character in the last 10 months. She also expressed her thanks to the fans and the production for giving her the opportunity to play the character.

 It was revealed that Shaw is expected to appear in the fourth episode of season 5 and Executive Producer Denise Thé revealed in an interview that they have a special episode that is focused on Shaw so that the fans will see what her life has been like living with the enemy.

As of writing there is still no confirmed premiere date for "Person of Interest" season 5 but it is expected to air on CBS early 2016.
