UFC Women's Bantamweight title-holder Holly Holm has come a long way since her victory against MMA fighter and crowd favorite Ronda Rousey last Nov. 14.
Holm has since become an instant celebrity, and of course with the status come invitations to different A-list events, including a VIP viewing party at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto middleweight championship fight last Saturday. As a star athlete, she is destined to meet other A-listers and stars. One of which is the power couple hiphop icon Jay-Z and pop superstar Beyonce.
Holm is apparently still not used to being on spotlight, and she still gets stunned whenever she meets celebrities. In her encounter with the 'On the Run' couple, she reportedly did something embarrassing.
She revealed her awkward encounter on Alburquerque's local radio station KRQE on Monday. "I meet Jay Z and he says this is my wife, and I'm like, "Oh, hi what's your name?" Because that's what I do when I meet someone's wife. And as I'm shaking her hand I'm thinking, "Why did I just say that? Why did I just say that to Beyonce?" So then Jay Z is asking me about the fight and I can't even focus on what he's saying because I just put my foot in my mouth. And I literally have to like interrupt him and I'm like, "I'm really sorry." And I go back to Beyonce and I'm like, "Beyonce, like, I can't believe I just did that," she hilariously narrated.
Beyonce reportedly assured her that there's no need to worry about her reaction.
In her HuffPost Live interview, she expressed that there has been changes in her life after her win, but she hopes that things would go back to normal once she comes home.
She also expressed that although she has not spoken to Ronda Rousey yet, she wishes her well. Holm emphasized that there's nothing personal in UFC fights, just two people trying to achieve the same dream.
