Everyone got swept on their feet when Adele released her album "25" and it already broke record on its first week.

According to abcnews.go.com, Adele has now the record of most albums sold in a week and the week is not yet over.

The 27- year- old "Hello" singer has also beaten the record set by N'Sync's "Not Strings Attached" in 2000 when she sold more than 2.4 million copies of her album since last Friday. The first week of release of the album will end on Thursday so it is expected that the album's sale will go higher with the remaining days.

Adele said in an interview that people have reacted on her album in such a massive way is because she haven't released anything since her last album "21" which is released five years ago. "I'm sorry it took so long but, you know, life happened. If I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record. I'm making up with myself. Making up for lost time," she added.

In a report by billboard.com, the expected sale for Adele's album at the end of the week is 2.9 million copies sold.

Nielsen Music has started tracking album sales since 1991 and currently, only two albums hold the record of selling more than 2 million copies in a single week.

Adele's "25", her third studio album, was released on November 20 under Columbia Records. Nielsen has been monitoring album sales from Friday to Thursday every week. The album first week will end on November 26 and people can expect the result from Nielsen Music by November 29, Sunday after they have tabulated all the necessary data from the album sales record.
