The creator of "Pretty Little Liars," Marlene King, mentioned during Good Morning America's 40 for 40 that although the TV adaptation of the book series is coming to an end, the tale of the Rosewood girls will live on elsewhere.
The sixth season of "Pretty Little Liars" is halfway through and is enjoying an undeterred success. During the last episode, Alison's transgender sister was finally named as the elusive "A." Now that its greatest mystery was unraveled, the TV show fans are assuming that the up and coming seventh season will be the last one for the series. While an eighth season is still rumored, Marlene King has hinted that she has bigger plans for the project. While remaining quiet regarding the subject of a movie during the interview, King explained that after the show, she is planning to take a break before resuming to work with the same cast and crew.
King explained, "We've got some really big ideas for a great PLL movie, but that won't happen right after the series ends. I think we'll take a little break and let everybody go off and do a few things and hopefully we'll come back together again and do something really special," Ecumenical News reported.
Meanwhile, the showrunner of the series also dropped some hints as to at what the fans can look forwarrd to with Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna in the upcoming season 6B. King revealed during her interview with E! Online that there will be several major changes to the show upon its return for the last half of the season.
"The girls you last saw on Pretty Little Liars are really not girls anymore. They're grown up, very mature young women leading very interesting lives, and they're about to come back to Rosewood again. Of course, it's Pretty Little Liars, so they do come back with some secrets and some lies," King said during the interview.
"Pretty Little Liars" is scheduled to come back for season 6B this coming January.
