FOX just announced that "New Girl" season 5 will premiere on the network on January 5, 2016.
According to IBTimes, the hit series will continue to air on its usual Tuesday at 8 p.m. timeslot.
However, fans can expect some changes with the new season. First, lead star Zooey Deschanel will only be included in the first three episodes of "New Girl" before she gets sequestered on jury duty.
Following her exit, the character will temporarily be replaced by Raegan (Megan Fox), a sexy pharmaceutical sales rep who may become Nick's (Jake Johnson) love interest.
Just recently, photos of Nick and Raegan kissing were leaked online. However, one photo showed Raegan leaving Nick behind, and this could mean that their fling would only be temporary.
Meanwhile, Cece (Hanna Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) are now officially engaged.
The premiere episode for season 5 will feature the onscreen couple hosting their engagement party.
Nick and Jess, their Best Man and Maid of Honor, will also be present to celebrate with them.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Liz Meriwether talked about Cece and Schmidt's engagement, and revealed that the latter will turn into a "groomzilla."
"What's fun for me is the idea that Schmidt is a bridezilla and he's the one who really cares about the wedding, the details of it and planning, and that Cece has already been engaged and already had a wedding that fell apart, so she doesn't really care and she's not really into all of the details," she said.
Meriwether added that Schmidt will also get to meet Cece's mom for the first time before they officially become a couple.
Not surprising though is the fact that Cece's mom may not necessarily like Schmidt immediately.
"New Girl" season 5 will premiere on FOX on Jan. 5, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET.
