A new report about "Mortal Kombat X" surfaced on Tuesday, saying that the popular video game will have a new set of playable characters. The news comes after the game's series creator, Ed Boon, hinted during this year's Game Awards that the fighting game's new characters will be revealed during the "Who's Next" event which will be held on Dec. 3.
According to the report, the term "Who's next" is actually a terminology used in the past by game developer NetherRealm as reference for the game's new playable character. It can be recalled that back in September, the company officially announced that there will be more playable characters to be released in 2016. It was said that one of the silhouetted playable characters will be revealed this week.
Escapist Magazine reports that Boon has tweeted a photo of the four additional characters for "Mortal Kombat X." Aside from the additional characters, Warner Bros. earlier confirmed that NetherRealm Studios is actually developing new DLCs for the game which include new skins and new environments, among others. All these free downloadable contents are expected to be rolled out in the first half of 2016.
"The latest batch of rumors regarding the characters to be included in the Kombat Pack 2 DLC for Mortal Kombat X suggest that Neo from 'The Matrix,' 'Batman' villain The Joker, as well as the legendary adventurer Indiana Jones will be added as characters. However, keep in mind that none of them has been confirmed so far. Besides the new characters, the upcoming expansion will come with a brand new fighting arena along with new player skins. There were four DLC characters introduced with the first Mortal Kombat X DLC and they are 'Friday the 13th' villain Jason Voorhees and Predator, along with classic 'Mortal Kombat' characters Tremor and Tanya," Day Herald reports.
