A new report about "Apple Watch 2" has surfaced on Friday, saying that Apple's upcoming smartwatch will feature a new "Woven Display." This is after the U.S Patent and Trademark Office has published a patent which was filed by the Cupertino-based company back in May 2014. The patent shows that the company's next-generation smartwatch will likely add the new display in the wearable, a report from iDigital Times said.

"Officially titled 'Woven Display,' the patent showcases Apple's idea to weave fibers capable of emitting light directly into the fabric of the Apple Watch 2's wristband. This means the Apple Watch 2's wristband could light up when a text message is received, or even display information such as time or weather updates without needing to turn the Apple Watch 2 on. Other possible uses for this LED fabric technology could include notifications warning users when the Apple Watch 2 wristband is not secured properly, or even when the battery is running dangerously low," the report said.

According to the report, aside from the Woven Display, Apple Watch will likely be integrated with a LED technology that can be paired with other Apple devices such as MacBook or iPad. With the technology, smartwatch users will be able to unlock Apple devices using Apple Watch 2 without the use of passwords or the need to physically interact with the gadgets. However, it was noted that users can only unlock the device if it is within the proximity of Apple's upcoming smartwatch.

"Apple's invention relates to the field of woven fabric displays. More particularly, the embodiments relate to woven bands which include fibers having varying optical properties. In still greater particularity, the embodiments include light pipe fibers woven into the fabric as light guides to visually display indications or messages to a user of a portable electronic device," Patenty Apple said.
