After not handling the pressure of being the first lady, Olivia (Kerry Washington) is said to break things up with Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) as "Scandal" season 5 returns next year after a holiday break.

According to Christian Post many speculated that aside from not handling first lady duties, Olivia's decision to abort her child with Fitz will also be one of the causes that their relationship will totally fall apart. Reports reveal that the new episode of "Scandal" season 5 will begin with the aftermath of the controversial breakup between Olivia and Fitz but the official synopsis for the episode hints that things may not be over yet for the couple.

Earlier it was reported that actor Tony Goldwyn revealed in an interview that there could still be hope for the couple and he hinted that once Fitz know about the abortion is that he may forgive Olivia because of his "illogical" love for her. However, he added that he still does not know what Fitz's reaction might be once he discovers that Olivia has aborted his child and considering that he lost his son, Goldwyn said that this could be a familiar feeling for him.

Meanwhile, Design & Trend reported that when Olivia and Fitz break up in the return of the season, there could be a possibility that Fitz will be having a new love interest in the show. In an interview with The Hollywood reporter, Goldwyn revealed that finding a new love interest is the least of the President's priorities now. After losing the love of his life, Goldwyn said that Fitz feels alone as he lost his family and also he felt that his right man, Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) is not loyal to him anymore. Goldwyn revealed that Fitz will be in a very dark place once the show returns next year.

"Scandal" season 5 is set to return on ABC on February 11, 2016.
