Marvel announced the newest addition to their "Iron Fist" team. The upcoming Netflix series recruited Dexter's executive producer Scott Buck, which they announced last Monday.

According to Marvel Television Head Jeph Loeb, Buck is the perfect person for the job. He said, "Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott, we've found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders."

Buck, on the other hand, is also excited to work on the series. He said, "I've always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that's what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and Iron Fist to life with Marvel on Netflix."

Based on the series' official description, the story of Iron Fist centers on the main character Daniel Rand who defends New York City against criminal elements. He does so with his "incredible kung-fu mastery" and the ability to "summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist." The series will then begin with Rand making a comeback to the Big Apple after going missing for several years.

Marvel's "Iron First" is the fourth collaboration between the comic book company and the streaming service. It is also the latest chapter in the ongoing Defender Series that includes other superheroes such as the Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

The Netflix series doesn't have a premiere date yet but Marvel's Luke Cage is expected to make a debut sometime in 2016 before Iron Fist. All four characters will eventually star together in The Defenders miniseries.

Iron Fist is Buck's first television gig since Dexter. Aside from the serial killer drama, Buck's other works include Six Feet Under, Rome and Coach.
