Game developer Square Enix has officially announced on Tuesday that it will release a "multi-part series" for its popular video game "Final Fantasy 7." It was stressed that there's no specific details as to how the company will push through its plan. However, sources privy to the plans of the company hint that the game's remake will be "episodic," a report from Gamespot said.
"It offered no specifics beyond that, such as when the first part will be released, how much it will cost, how frequently subsequent parts will come out, or any of the other questions you're no doubt asking right now," the report noted.
In a press release issued by the company, it pointed out that both fans and avid players will have their own unique experience playing the remake version of the game. "Final Fantasy VII" Remake will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience," Square Enix said as quoted in the report.
Recently, the company has released the first gameplay trailer of the upcoming video game. The game's new trailer was formally debuted during the PlayStation Experience which was held last weekend.
Gematsu reports that Square Enix is currently taking a massive development in terms of technology that will be incorporated in the game. It was said that the company is planning to release an HD remake version and since the game will be told in a multi-part series, some of the contents will be cut and as expected a "condensed" version of the game will be released.
"Whether that means it will unfold in an episodic manner or resemble the expanded Final Fantasy 13 universe remains to be seen; the game is still unscheduled. You can play the original PlayStation version on PlayStation 4 right now; it's now on sale at the PlayStation Store, and is available at a 30 percent discount through Dec. 13, after which it will cost $15.99," Polygon reports.
