A few days from now, the force shall awaken- when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits cinemas, that is.

J. J. Abrams, the man behind the film, a passionate "Star Wars" fan himself, takes center stage while the rest of the fans are awaiting its highly anticipated release.

Together with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, the main goal is to create a movie worthy the original, Screenrant reports. Its followers would not expect any less, the franchise being one of the move beloved the world over.

Abrams shared that once the cast was completed, a balance of the old and new faces, there's the special effects and visuals that had to be considered. He opted using as many as old school visuals as possible.

When he was asked about the mandate he had received in making the film, he said that there was none from anyone or Kennedy, except that it be worthy of "Star Wars" franchise and delightful. They were given liberty to finish the job but the Lucasfilm head was also at the helm, of course. He added that it was important not to screw up, of course.

From the teasers alone and the response of Disney executives, Abrams and those working with him may have done the job but fans are yet to concur.

Gary Tomkins, the art director of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" spoke to Time about how it was working with Abrams. Tomkins had been involved with the franchise for a long time and one of the few people to be a part of all three trilogies.

He said, "What is lovely with J.J. is - I mean obviously so many of us have grown up with Star Wars, me maybe particularly more literally than a lot of millions of people across the world, but we've all played with Star Wars toys on the bedroom carpet and you know, we've all done that. Even J.J., on one of the first days that we showed him an X-wing, we were talking to him about it and talking about various technical details and he said, 'Hey, just give me a minute. I've got my own X-wing here, this is so cool.' And suddenly the little boy in him, the eight-year-old boy came out because he was standing there next to a X-wing..."

"The Force Awakens" will be released on Dec. 18, and it will be followed by "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" on Dec. 16, 2016, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" on May 26 the year after and the "Han Solo Star Wars Anthology" on May 2018, "Episode IX" on 2019 and another "Star Wars Anthology," the third one on 2020.
