"Grey's Anatomy" lead star Ellen Pompoe may have just thrown shade at other Shondland stars.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress was asked on how much her life has changed since she starred in the hit ABC show and joined Shonda Rhimes' production company. According to the actress, she feels that she's the one who began it all because Rhimes' first hit show is and will always be "Grey's Anatomy."
"It only became Shondaland a few short years ago. I started with Shonda when we were just a show. I didn't join Shondaland, I was sort of part of the inception - safe to say without sounding too arrogant. 'Grey's' was part of the beginning of Shondaland. We were just one show then. So my history is a lot bigger than just these past five years," she said.
Meanwhile, Pompeo also said that she's also very competitive with herself and how she portrays her character Meredith Grey. The actress added that she gets constant motivation from the loyal fans who have been watching the series since Season 1.
"I'm very competitive with myself. Also, it's not just about me. It's about the fans. We're so lucky to have the fans still so engaged in the show. We owe it to them to give it 200 percent every time," she said.
In other news, there are rumors that big things are bound to happen to Meredith during the second half of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12.
According to Design & Trend, the character may get into a relationship with new cast member Martin Henderson's Nathan Riggs. Henderson said during a previous interview that Nathan could basically get into a relationship with any female character on the show, but it's not necessarily Meredith.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will air on Feb. 11, 2016 on ABC.
