The first "Hello" didn't come from Adele! Back in 1984, Lionel Richie released '"Hello", which coined the classic phrase, "Hello, is it me you're looking for?" and in seemingly hilarious news, the veteran singer shared that he consulted his lawyers if he could put a copyright to the word "Hello." Needless to say, his legal counsel didn't think it was feasible and practical.

Lionel Ritchie recently did an interview with The Sun, and he shared that he asked his lawyer "you can't use my word without my acknowledgement, thank you very much. I have been trying to figure out, from a legal point of view, can you own a word?" Then to no surprise, the lawyer answered with a resounding no despite the 'fabulous association.'

Adele's version is quite different from the 'All Night Long' artist's. While both open with "Hello," the British songstress' version is followed by "It's me." They are very different in topic as well, so their similarities really boil down to just that now iconic word.

Adele's '25' keeps breaking records! According to Billboard, her latest album is set to surpass five million units to be sold in the United States -- a record number for three weeks' time. Their numbers project that the album can sell 650,000 more copies by the end of this week. This comes to no surprise as '25' debuted strongly at 3.38m units sold only on its first week, and with this number alone, she has outsold many major artists. If she does surpass this number, she is guaranteed to top the Billboard 200 charts again for the third consecutive week.

The music video for "Hello" is breaking records of its own too. She has gone over 100m views in only three days, beating Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball." It is now considered as the second fastest growing video on Youtube, only second to PSY's "Gentleman."
