Jesse Tyler Ferguson is showing his gratitude to his doctors for making him cancer-free. The "Modern Family" star took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal his cancer scare and thank his doctors.

The snap was captioned: "Thank you to Dr. Bennett & his entire team for taking the cancer out of my face. Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow @modernfamily_makeuphair! #youwannaapieceofme #phantommask #spf75"

Although he didn't specify what kind of cancer he really had, the Los Angeles Times speculates that it is a form of skin cancer because of the final hashtag Jesse Tyler Ferguson wrote.

As it turns out, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita had a previous brush with cancer. E! News reports that Mikita was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma when he was 13 years old, and has to get annual check ups for it.

At the time, the 40-year-old actor shared about his husband's disease last year, Ferguson explained:

"He was diagnosed when he was 13 and that's sort of an age when you don't really realize what's going on. He goes in once a year for his check-up to make sure he's still cancer free so he's always reminded of it. [...] I think it does touch him in a lot of ways. He's thrilled that I'm here and I'm definitely representing him."

Jesse Tyler Ferguson has been an avid supporter of Stand Up To Cancer. With his husband, Ferguson has continually helped raise awareness for cancer diagnosis and treatments.

The couple has always attended charity events as a way to show their support, including the biennial Stand Up To Cancer events.

Just a day after revealing his cancer-free face, Ferguson was all smiles by Wednesday. In another Instagram snap, Jesse Tyler posted a selfie with his "Modern Family" family.

Eric Stonestreet, who plays his husband on the show, and his on-screen daughter Aubrey Anderson-Emmons were featured in the photo where he wrote, "Family picture from set!"
