Nina Dobrev left "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD) in Season 6, but talks that Elena Gilbert will return for Season 7 is unending. Dobrev isn't reportedly happy at all with the news that her ex Ian Somerhalder and the rest of the CW show cast are using her to improve the show's ratings.

Dobrev made it clear that she's not coming back to "TVD" anymore, even in the worst scenario that the show may be cancelled. Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that that the 26-year-old is not anymore interested to work with her former flame, so she's definitely not returning to CW despite the news that the show can be axed anytime with its not-so-good ratings. Earlier, Dobrev emphasized that she will be more careful in choosing her roles as she will be keen on playing more serious characters.

Some reports claimed that Somerhalder was the first to tease the possible return of Dobrev on the show. In an interview with MTV News at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con, Damon Salvatore of the CW supernatural drama gave hints that Dobrev was just sleeping, which could mean that she's still coming back."She's still there, dude. She's in a casket; she's having a nap." His statement triggered speculations that Damon  might be just missing Elena and that he really wants her back in the drama series.

"TVD" is feared to be heading cancellation as it has been reported that it's been moved to a Friday slot. However, in a different interview, Somerhalder said that Elena's departure from the show is just fine and doesn't affect the ratings of the show, according to International Business Times. "I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena (Nina Dobrev) was gone. And I was one of those people."

Apart from Somerhalder, another cast member, Paul Wesley, who plays the character Stefan, told TV Insider that Dobrev may return in Season 7. He claimed that Elena is still a big part of the story and that her body was in danger in the first few episodes of the season, but Damon was there to make sure that she's safe when she wakes up, Moview News Guide reports.

Despite Dobrev's honest refusal to return to "TVD," fans of the former couple still hope for Elena's return.
