Following Donald Trump's infuriating proposal to ban Muslims from the US, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg assured Muslim users that they are 'always welcome' on Facebook.

Last Thursday, Zuckerberg posted, "If you're a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you."

"Having a child has given us so much hope, but the hate of some can make it easy to succumb to cynicism. We must not lose hope. As long as we stand together and see the good in each other, we can build a better world for all people," he continued.

In the post which can be found on Zuckerberg's official Facebook page, the 31-year-old explained he was inspired to speak up because as a Jew, his parents taught him to speak up against attacks on all communities. He emphasized, "Even if an attack isn't against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone."

Zuckerberg's heartfelt post elicited positive reactions from numerous Muslim users. One Muslim user responded, "As a Muslim this couldn't be more timely... I hope to see more leaders follow suit. Thank you for your powerful words and for echoing what so many others from all faiths should."

Another commented, "From a Muslim-American to a Jewish-American, thank you for your important words. Our communities have more in common than what many lead us to believe divides us. If only more of our country's leaders echoed your sentiments."

Zuckerberg's post is one of the many proofs of the increasing politicization of Silicon Valley. Recently, tech executives have voiced out their opinions on a variety of issues, ranging from cybersecurity and privacy to social issues like gender discrimination.
