It is one Apocalypse people are not dreading, but rather looking forward to the "X-Men: Apocalypse." X-men fans are the happiest lot these days, just in time for Christmas.
Fox made an announcement that its first trailer will be available today. It was set to debut with the movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" when it hits theaters next week but the studio has decided to treat the fans ahead of time, reports Entertainment Weekly.
What's more exciting is that the a new motion poster for the upcoming film was also unveiled, showing the iconic X-Men team insignia, half-covered in dirt, with a molten crack surging through its center. The tagline, which says, "Only the strong will survive," is enough to excite the fans.
The plot summary also reveals what fans can expect, as shared by Coming Soon. It says, "Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction."
McAvoy, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Munn, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Ben Hardy and Lana Condor would play the starring roles.
Oscar Isaac will play the villain Apocalypse and looking at the poster, he means business. The movie will be released on May 27,2016, by 20th Century Fox, under the direction of Bryan Singer, alongside screenwriter Simon Kinberg.
