A new report about "Legend of Zelda" Wii U has surfaced on Friday, saying that the character Linkle will be part of the game. The dual-crossbow wielding character will join the other characters in the game once it is officially released in 2016, a report from Latinos Health said.
"The coming of the new Wii U game was announced in the most recent episode of Nintendo Direct. The video is the first one released since the former Nintendo CEO, Satoru Iwata, passed away in July. The Wii U version will be an open-world adventure game with the iconic Link able to go in and out of dungeons any time. Linkle is a playable character for 'Hyrule Warrior Legends' for 3DS and can be unlocked for the Wii U version. She looks like someone who is related to Link but it was revealed that she isn't. As for the reason why she looks similar is that she was originally intended to be Link's sister," the report said.
However, Gamnesia reports that game developer Koe Tocmo has recently confirmed that Linkle will not be Link's sister. It can be recalled that the company originally pitched Linkle as a relative of Link. Eiji Aonuma has shared some details in an IGN interview.
"Koei Tecmo first proposed the Linkle character as Link's little sister for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors. However, we felt this conflicted with the concept of Aryll from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the only character we had ever had appear as Link's sister, so we decided not to include that version. In Hyrule Warriors Legends, though, the proposal was to include Linkle not as Link's sister, but as a girl with heroic aspirations. This was a totally new and unique background for the franchise, and we thought she would add to the game's diversity, so we decided to include her in this game," Aonuma said as quoted in IGN.
