"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder was reportedly offended by Caroline Dries' statement that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is more important to Elena (Nina Dobrev) than Damon.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dries said that she and co-executive producer Julie Plec had a hard time narrowing down Elena's last scenes with all of the characters on "The Vampire Diaries." Dries mentioned that they wanted to make sure that Elena's goodbye to Stefan would be meaningful, but the exec also said that they knew it cannot be included on the show before or after Elena's scene with Damon.

Meanwhile, according to Yibada, Somerhalder may have been offended by Dries' statement, thinking that his character is being treated with less importance. However, this definitely wasn't the case because Dries' statement was simply taken out of context.

"We knew it was going to be the biggest scene of the season, maybe one of the biggest scenes of the series, so we knew we wanted it to be epic. Julie and I were talking with the writers, and I think a bolt of lightning hit Julie. It's one of those moments where Julie does like a full body spasm and throws her pen in th air and it's like of course they have to dance!" Dries explained.

In other news, this is not the first time that Somerhalder was linked to some on-set rumors with his "The Vampire Diaries" co-star. Just recently, multiple publications claimed that the actor's co-stars want to get rid of Somerhalder because he's becoming more and more arrogant on set. The cast members of "The Vampire Diaries" reportedly want to work with Dobrev than Somerhalder because this would be the most ideal choice.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
