Where there is a new phone, there is always rumor and detail leaks, and to date, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is the hottest dish.
Samsung has yet to release official details and images of their upcoming product but leaks have already surfaced. The latest of which is from a third-case party manufacturer who claimed that the S7 will come in two sizes.
In schematics allegedly provided by Samsung to case manufacturers, one variant of the S7 fits the footprint of the current S6. The second one which Forbes' Gordon Kelly dubbed as "Galaxy S7+" comes with a 6-inch screen. He described the second variant as a "massive, slippery phone" if Samsung is going to keep the S6's glass finish.
The design also shows that the S7 will continue to use microUSB but has a redesigned SIM card slot. This could mean that the S7 could allow dual SIM function and the return of external storage.
Meanwhile, the most shocking rumor surrounding the much-awaited smartphone is its January announcement date. This caught the attention of consumers as the date is so far outside of Samsung's usual device schedule. Typically, Samsung announces their Galaxy S phones in February or March, and their Galaxy Note series during the fall. Based on the company's calendar, the January unveiling is a far cry.
What is more realistic, though, is the rumor that suggest Samsung could lower S7's price by 10 percent. According to an analyst based in China, the company experienced a decline in market share and profits. To stay competitive with rival smartphones, the company needs to introduce change and that includes lowering the price of their premier phone.
A reunion with Qualcomm is also rumored. For the S6, Samsung ditched the Qualcomm chip and used a homegrown Samsung Exynos processor. This implied that the relationship between Samsung and Qualcomm was over. However, both sides insisted that they have never broken up and so, there is a huge chance that the S7 will have Qualcomm chips.
Here is what we know for certain. In an investor conference in Korea, Samsung announced that Samsung Galaxy S7 will have a new camera technology, specifically a sensor called Britecell which allows better low-light shots.
